Several reports hold that 2018 Honda Prelude may soon roll out from Honda’s factories and hit the road again. The Honda Prelude is a car that first saw daylight in 1978 but got discontinued in 2001. The Japanese automaker has taken off many such high performing cars only to stay in line with changing times. However, its Prelude is recently gaining some spotlight as speculations are hot on air that it might just be resurrected. The main reason that Honda might do this is to bring a change in its coupe line-up which might even help it to take on its competitors. Since this model is coming after 16 years, expect Honda to present some serious mods and upgrades.

2018 Honda Prelude – Body and Design:

The 2018 Honda Prelude is also expected to wear a striking look as the ongoing signature design language for couples includes an aggressive profile. Protruding wheel arches, deep stylistic side body cuts, and low-to-ground bumpers are to add up this aggressive stance. Nonetheless, the new approach to its hood and windshield can be reminiscent of the last model. The options for wheel size might come as 17 and 18 inches with aluminum alloy build.

Interior Design:

The experts have predicted that Honda will borrow some of the design elements from Accord and Civic Type R in the interior cabin of 2018 Honda Prelude. However, expect its interior cabin to integrate noise and vibration damping for bringing out a quieter, enjoyable ride. Functionality wise, the steering wheel will incorporate controls to the audio system, hands-free and even the AC system. All in all, a sporty racing theme will not be missed out in the all-new Prelude.

Safety features:

The Honda Company always makes sure that safety should be the priority of any vehicle. Likewise, the upcoming Honda Prelude is set to integrate several safety technologies like:

  • Tire Pressure Monitoring.
  • Lane Keeping Assist.
  • Real Time Navigation Update.
  • Safety Locks.
  • Dual-Stage Airbags.
  • Rearview Camera.

Speculations put out by experts suggest a possibility for 2 engines.

  • The first one is a 2.0 liter V-TEC turbocharged mill capable of producing 250 HP and 267 lb-ft. This will be accompanied by a 2WD drive layout and 6-speed manual transmission.
  • So, the higher trims will have a 3.5-liter V6 engine. Expect this powertrain to crank out a torque of 295 lb-ft and a power of 315 HP. This model of Honda is likely to offer both 6-speed and 8-speed automatic transmission options.

As far as fuel economy is concerned, the 2.0-liter engine is likely to give 26 mpg in city, 31 mpg on highways and 28 mph combined. Similarly, the 3.5 liter V6 variant is supposed to give 28/32/30 mpg on city/highway/combined respectively. These mileage figures are to vary with transmission options.
