The upcoming 2020 Mazda CX-5 crossover SUV model is happening and we can expect this model to debut at the end of this year. Some changes are evident and CX-5 will look more attractive. Also, the manufacturer introduced diesel variant at the 2019 New York Auto Show that will bring more efficient engine. This engine will be only available in the Signature AWD trim level. Also, we must mention that the diesel variant comes with the standard all-wheel-drive configuration.
Besides the engine, the exterior of the new model will undergo a minor facelift. Furthermore, the cabin will be also updated and it will be one of the most luxurious in the segment.
2020 Mazda CX-5 Redesign
The all-new 2020 Mazda CX-5 will be redesigned but it won’t depart too much from the previous model. As we already wrote, the new model will be available this year for the first time with the diesel variant. This type of engine is available with the Signature trim and will look more premium. Signature trim comes with most of the available features.
The upcoming 2020 Mazda CX-5 will get some updates and changes. The popular Kodo design language is still there and looks stylish and unique. The front will get some modification and thanks to the use of chrome accents this SUV looks more premium.
Cabin Looks Premium
Inside the attractive 2020 Mazda CX-5 buyers will get a great level of comfort. However, there is no room as in the Honda CR-V or Toyota RAV4, but it still offers two rows of seats and rooms for five passengers. Furthermore, the CX-5 has own unique design and is the most premium interior in the segment.
Some changes will happen on the center console that is larger than before. Leather upholstery is still available on the higher trims like Signature. Like the previous CX-5, the new one will keep the same color palette. This SUV is available in four exterior colors. Jet Black that is the standard, and optional Machine Gray Metallic, Snowflake White Pearl and Soul Red Crystal that is one of the favorites.
2020 Mazda CX-5 New Diesel Powertrain
Under the hood, the new 2020 Mazda CX-5 will get one new diesel engine alongside the older ones. The base engine is still a 2.5-liter inline-4 capable to produce 187 horsepower @ 6,000 rpm and 186 lb-ft of torque @ 3,250 rpm (4,000 rpm for AWD models). The next one engine that is optional 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 that makes 250 horsepower @ 5,000 rpm (93-octane premium gasoline; 227 horsepower with regular). This engine also provides 310 lb-ft of torque at 2,000 rpm.
The last one engine after long waiting is a 2.2-liter Skyactiv-D turbodiesel engine that will be only available in the Signature AWD trim level. This twin-turbocharged diesel engine is capable to deliver up to 168 HP and 290 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel-drive setup is standard on this model and with this system, the ride will be smoother.
Price and Release Date
The all-new 2020 Mazda CX-5 model looks attractive and stylish. Thanks to many changes and updates, the standard model will get more features this time. The base CX-5 crossover starts at around $27,000.
However, if one chooses the diesel variant, the price will jump to $35,000. This model will be available with the AWD system as standard only in the Signature trim level. The release date of the new model is set for this year.
