Toyota is introducing its third-gen Hilux. New 2021 Toyota Hilux is getting a complete revamp. The Japanese manufacturer remains silent about these rumors. However, many reliable reports are confirming this type of story. The current model is one of the safest pickups in the mid-size segment.

It comes with impressive design, and it looks attractive. However, the new-generation model will look to build on that. We can expect an even more appealing pickup truck. That also includes more modern interior design. Toyota will introduce new exterior paints and possibly new trim level. We hope for at least one optional package and of course, improved performance.

2021 Hilux Exterior Redesign

The last time that we have seen redesigned Hilux was in 2017. The 2020 model will get minor exterior refreshments. However, the upcoming 2021 Toyota Hilux is ready for another revamp. The all-new mid-size pickup will get plenty of exterior features, and it will look more attractive. Toyota opted for a more angular approach once again. On the other hand, Hilux will get an SUV-like appearance this time. The Japanese carmaker plans to introduce a new grille that will be larger.

On top of that, new headlights and taillights are in the works as well. Hilux pickup offers numerous trim levels. Thanks to that, this mid-size model will remain practical and customizable. Some parts of the exterior are looking incredibly sporty. Upper trim levels will obtain new wheels, and there will be three different cab styles. That includes a regular cab, extended cab, and double cab. The current Hilux offers only six exterior colors. The new-generation model will provide at least eight.

Interior Overhaul

The 2021 Toyota Hilux will also get plenty of interior refreshments. The cabin will get new upholstery, larger displays, and the latest tech updates. For a start, a larger infotainment display looks much better than the previous one. Moreover, it offers a more straightforward user interface. This time, most of the controls are placed on the touchscreen.

This feature should reduce the number of buttons from the inside. New mid-size pickup will keep its current seating layout. On the other hand, Toyota will provide new air vents, vinyl flooring, and leather upholstery. The dashboard is slightly revised, just like the instrument cluster.

New Engine Rumors

The approaching 2021 Toyota Hilux could also get a new powertrain option. Japanese carmaker refused to say anything on this topic. However, it is an excellent possibility for this mid-size pickup truck. Until that happens, a 2.7-liter gasoline engine remains standard. It produces 165 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque.

The optional 2.4-liter turbodiesel is the more recommended choice. A diesel engine can generate 175 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are offering the same 6-speed automatic transmission. The new-gen model won’t introduce manual gearbox like always before.
