Mazda revealed its first all-electric model at the Tokyo Auto Show. The forthcoming 2021 Mazda MX-30 comes with a company’s entirely new design language, and it looks impressive. It is a compact crossover that is 173.0 inches long, the same length as the CX-30 (based on the CX-3).

This model has so much interesting to offer, from the “freestyle” doors to the exclusive body cladding and sporty vibe. MX acronym is a weird choice for sure, because those two letters are reserved for sports cars. However, exact specs such as performance figures or driving range are yet to be announced.

2021 MX-30 Exterior Design and Suicide Doors

The brand new model looks genuinely unique. The approaching 2021 Mazda MX-30 is a crossover, and it will compete in the compact segment. Interestingly, MX-30 and CX-30 are both 173.0 inches long. The design of the new MX-30 looks dramatic, handsome and very sleek. The front grille looks impressive, and the swoopy c-pillar is unique. However, the highlight of the arriving model is its so-called “freestyle” rear doors. The same suicide doors are previously used in the RX8 model.

Front doors can open up to 82 degrees while the rear doors to 80 degrees. This should provide easier access to the vehicle. Design is entirely new, and some parts are looking rugged. However, everything seems so striking and attractive. The vehicle sports numerous sweeping shapes, and there’s not so much to not like about it.

Environment-Friendly Interior

As for the interior, it is a special place without any doubts. The 2021 Mazda MX-30 will look futuristic and stylish at the same time. A lot of natural materials can be found inside the cabin, including cork. The dashboard design is similar to the design of the dash inside the CX-30 model. However, MX-30 incorporates a second lower screen on the center console. The infotainment system is another futuristic detail inside the all-electric crossover.

The controls are very user-friendly, and you won’t find so many buttons on the inside. Floating console design looks exclusive, and most of the features are dynamically controlled. Leather seats are not available. Instead, Mazda offers unusual vegan trims and leftover corks instead of real new wood. Thanks to that, the interior is environmentally friendly. Overall, everything looks plush, modern and very user-friendly.

Performance, Driving Range

To this moment, Mazda is silent on any details in terms of performances. So far, we know that the 2021 Mazda MX-30 will deploy a 35.5-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Unfortunately, this is it. The power or driving range figures are completely unknown. The MX-30 won’t be such a powerful model, many car experts report. Even the torque numbers are low.

First predictions are suggesting 100-120 miles of driving range. The same reports are predicting 140 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque from the electric motor. If the rumors are correct, we’ll get a more than reliable all-electric crossover. Finally, Mazda promises superb handling and quiet ride.

2021 Mazda MX-30 Price and Release Date

We like the upcoming 2021 Mazda MX-30. It the price is right and affordable, this could become a real favorite in the all-electric crossover segment. However, the pricing details are still not available. Mazda plans to release full specs in the coming months. After that, this compact crossover will go on sale across the globe. Whatsoever, MX-30 will reach the American soil as well.
