If you are looking for a mid-size luxury crossover, but you can’t pay for it, the 2021 Acura RDX is the answer. It is a perfect replacement for the luxury crossover. The RDX model comes with modern and stylish design. Moreover, its interior is very stylish, and it provides great comfort. For 2021, this model will get mid-cycle improvements.

Furthermore, RDX Type S will also be in the offer. It is a high-performance and sportier variant. The base model also looks sporty. It comes with a great interior room and good high-tech features. Still, the 2021 RDX desperately needs an optional and more potent engine. The second issue is its optional equipment that is tied to packages.

Acura RDX Exterior Facelift

The brand-new 2021 Acura RDX will introduce a couple of upgrades. That includes minor visual changes, such as enlarged exterior features and added sporty vibe. The RDX rides on its third generation that has been introduced recently. We don’t expect a complete redesign in the next couple of years. For 2021, Acura will also get modified C-shape taillights and a larger grille.

The most significant change is dimensional. New RDX will be 2.3 inches longer than its predecessor. On top of that, it will gain almost 50 pounds. This change will improve the vehicle’s stability and handling. The rest of the exterior, including the diamond pentagon grille, will remain.

Interior and Packages

There are so many good things about the interior of the new 2021 Acura RDX. Cabin space is generous, and the legroom is ample. Next RDX will get updated infotainment system and new tech features. Unfortunately, Acura is still refusing to offer individual and optional equipment. All of the optional amenities can be loaded via numerous packages.

Because of that, you just can’t load one feature, but the whole package. For example, a larger display or 360-degree camera is a part of the Advance Package. The second way is to buy higher trim level where some of these features are standard. Speaking of that, A-Spec trim is amazing in every possible way. RDX will get new safety equipment inside the AccuraWatch safety package.

Same Four-Cylinder Engine is Available Once Again

As for the performance, the approaching 2021 Acura RDX continues to offer a single engine option. This is not good news for Acura’s fans across the globe. A 2.0-liter four-cylinder lacks power, and its performance is behind the competition.

The engine is rated at 272 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. Acura is offering a 10-speed automatic transmission and a standard FWD system. On the other hand, the ride is smooth and very comfortable.

2021 Acura RDX Type S

Besides the A-Spec trim level, the new 2021 Acura RDX will get its Type S variant. It is a sporty and high-performance version that adds aggressive look and more equipment. RDX Type S comes with impressive aerodynamics and lower ride height. A true sporty vehicle will also introduce a couple of mechanical upgrades.

Acura plans to improve overall handling, along with the brakes and suspension. More importantly, a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 will be under the hood. While we are waiting for the engine specs, this unit will surely generate over 350 horsepower.

Price and Release Date

If you can’t afford luxury models such as Audi Q5 or Mercedes-Benz GLC, Acura got you covered. Its mid-size luxury SUV starts at $39,000.

Surely, the 2021 Acura RDX lacks a couple of things, but it represents a great alternative for more established models. New 2021 RDX will go on sale in the last quarter of 2020.
