Lexus is in the game! The upcoming 2021 Lexus UX300e is the company’s first all-electric vehicle. In its first year of existence, this model will be available in Europe and China. That will happen at the beginning of 2020. The electric model will provide almost 250 miles of driving range, according to Japan’s manufacturer.

Reliable reports are saying that Lexus has no plans to bring this vehicle to the United States. Small crossover started its path as a concept called LF-30. This concept was presented last month, and now we can’t wait to see the final product. After Europe and China, this crossover will hit the dealerships in Japan in 2021.

2021 UX300e Exterior Design

This is just a beginning. The 2021 Lexus UX300e is a signal of what to expect from the automaker in the future. We must admit that this model looks quite regular, but it is far from boring. When you see newest electric crossovers and SUVs, this one looks normal, and it wears a traditional design. Whatsoever, you can’t find so much difference between electric variant and regular UX.

When you compare it, both versions are coming with the hourglass grille and the same rear end.  The three-dimensional taillights are looking very unique and modern. We like the body cladding and new special wheels. As this is electric crossover, aerodynamics is slightly optimized.

Luxury Interior and New Shift-By-Wire System

Unlike the base UX model, the new 2021 Lexus UX300e comes with different shifter design. On top of that, electric crossover will use a shift-by-wire system. Paddle shifters are sprouted up behind the steering wheel, which allows driver to switch between brake regeneration.

Toyota already implemented this system on its new RAV4 Prime model. As for the rest of the interior, expect a lot of luxury. Exact details are not available at the moment, but what to expect from Lexus than a premium cabin?

Power, Range, Charging

The forthcoming 2021 Lexus UX300e comes with a 54.3 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The battery sits underneath the floor, and it connects to a front-mounted motor. The same motor is producing 201 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque. Unlike the new all-electric models, UX300e is a front-wheel-drive model.

According to the Japanese manufacturer, this crossover will provide 248 miles of electric range. However, this model is not tested yet, so we’ll have to believe in what Lexus promised. On a DC fast charger, full charge will take slightly over an hour. On the other hand, standard AC charger needs almost eight hours to charge from 0 to 100%.
