According to the newest reports, CX-7 crossover is coming back to the U.S. later next year. The 2021 Mazda CX-7 will join the CX-3, CX-5 and CX-9 models that are already present in North America. There is a lot of mystery around the new CX-7. From its dimensions to powertrain options and new design. We can expect new styling, better appearance and possibly mid-size SUV dimensions.

Inside the cabin, new Mazda’s crossover-SUV will look very upright and modern. As for the exterior, Mazda will deliver a stylish and attractive design, no doubt about it. Under the hood, new 2021 CX-7 could feature a hybrid powertrain, besides at least one SkyActiv engine.

2021 CX-7 Exterior Redesign

First of all, the 2021 Mazda CX-7 will most likely hit the roads as a mid-size SUV. Whatsoever, the automaker from Japan already offers smaller CX-3 and CX-5 models. Furthermore, CX-9 is also present in the U.S. as a mid-size SUV. We don’t believe that the new CX-7 will come back as a subcompact or a full-size SUV. One of the highlights will be its coupe-like design. Moreover, reliable reports are saying that the new CX-7 will be the most attractive Mazda’s model so far.

The new platform is a possibility and CX-7 could benefit from it in numerous ways. For a start, lighter architecture is more than welcome and new underpinnings should be able to accommodate a hybrid powertrain. We expect an impressive styling that will depart from the rest of Mazda’s models in the crossover-SUV lineup.

Interior and Trim Levels

When it comes to interior design, 2021 Mazda CX-7 will look very upright and modern. We bet on a premium cabin with a lot of tech. For a start, a 7-inch touchscreen should be available as standard on the base model. Moreover, this SUV will host a lot of interesting and futuristic shapes. Chrome accents, cleaner dashboard, and simple interior layout are a must for a Japanese manufacturer.

The comfort is guaranteed on all trim levels, but especially on the upper ones. The range-topping model will deliver nothing but a luxury. Thanks to that, expect a premium sound system, power-adjustable features, and best possible safety rating. Once it arrives, CX-7 will be a seven-seat SUV.

Besides Gasoline Engines CX-7 Could Go Hybrid

Once it goes on sale, the forthcoming 2021 Mazda CX-7 will offer two SkyActiv engines. From what we know, a 2.5-liter four-cylinder will be a standard option that delivers 185 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. Moreover, a 2.5-liter is also an optional engine that can generate around 250 horses. Diesel is another likely option, but this rumor is yet to be confirmed.

The new platform could also suggest a hybrid powertrain option as well. The hybrid variant will arrive with more power and drastically better fuel economy rating. To this date, we don’t know which gearbox will be in the offer. However, everything comes down to either 6-speed or 8-speed automatic transmission.

2021 Mazda CX-7 Price and Release Date

The previous generation of the CX-7 model lasted from 2006 to 2012. At the time, the Japanese manufacturer replaced it with a CX-5 version. Now, the comeback is finally happening.

The 2021 Mazda CX-7 will arrive as a mid-size SUV and it will be available in the U.S. Moreover, the price will start below $30,000. This SUV will hit the dealerships in the last quarter of 2020.
