The forthcoming 2021 Toyota Sienna SE is coming to the markets later next year. This minivan has been spied on its testing in Michigan. According to new spy shots, some notable design changes are about to happen. Moreover, Sienna is somehow one of a few minivans on the market that comes with a hybrid powertrain.
Now, for 2021, Toyota plans to make Sienna the first minivan to deploy self-driving technology. This tech is made in collaboration with Uber and Japanese automaker invested around $500 million in its production. The interior is also ready for numerous updates and overall, Sienna will be significantly refreshed.

2021 Sienna SE Spy Photos
According to the latest spy photos, the new 2021 Toyota Sienna SE is ready for mid-cycle refreshments. The prototype has been spotted in Michigan, wearing heavy camouflage. Still, a heavily disguised vehicle still shows most of the exterior upgrades. For a start, the headlights and fog lights are more angular. Down below, a wide intake now comes with a honeycomb mesh insert.
To the sides, Toyota installed new door-mounted side mirrors and new side skirts. Sienna minivan also looks slightly longer. That clearly suggests slight modifications to its modular TNGA platform. The rear end will introduce new taillight units and the reshaped rear bumper.

Interior Improvements
For a start, the latest dimensional changes should provide more legroom inside the cabin. The third-row occupants should especially benefit from it. The 2021 Toyota Sienna SE will look remarkable and modern on the inside. Unfortunately, spy photos didn’t provide any of the interior updates. Surely, you can expect mid-cycle improvements inside this minivan.
Still, the highlight of the new minivan will be a new Uber’s Self-Driving System. This technology will be integrated into Toyota’s new models and Sienna is one of the first to get such a system. Thanks to that, the 2021 Sienna will be a self-driving minivan with maximized safety ratings.

Sienna and Sienna Hybrid Specs
Under the hood, nothing significant will change. The approaching 2021 Toyota Sienna SE comes with the same 3.5-liter V6. It generates 295 hp and 263 lb-ft of twists. A hybrid version that combines the same V6 with electric motor and battery pack is also available. Sienna Hybrid is rated at 330 horsepower, which is a lot of power for a minivan. Moreover, Toyota promised better mileage for 2021.
Thanks to that, we can expect for new Sienna to deliver around 35 mpg combined. No doubt, new Toyota’s minivan will be one of the best-in-segment, along with Chrysler Pacifica. As we already wrote, this minivan will suffer small modifications to its architecture. Thanks to that, we can expect a more pleasant ride. The same TNGA platform underpins new Camry and Highlander models.
