The new-gen 2021 Lexus LX is coming to the markets. This SUV will finally get a full redesign, and the first details are available. The current model will stick around for another couple of months before the next-gen LX hits the roads. In the last couple of years, Lexus’ sales have dropped and new-gen models are a perfect opportunity to make a comeback.

After all, German SUV manufacturers are currently leading the segment and models such as LX have no chance at the moment. However, after the complete revamp, Lexus will have a competitor once again. You can expect numerous exterior refreshments and interior upgrades. On top of that, Lexus will most likely provide the new engine to its LX lineup.

2021 LX Exterior Redesign

The first details become available in a Japanese magazine called Mag-X. New 2021 Lexus LX will be completely redesigned and it will look amazing. We saw a glimpse but it was more than enough. The rear part is totally redesigned and taillights are now stretching across the entire width of the body. Below, dual exhaust outlets are looking incredibly sporty and upright.

The front part will also gain numerous refreshments. That includes new headlights and a new grille that will look more prominent now. We should wait for a little more and see how the new-gen Lexus LX will look like. On the other hand, many fans are slightly disappointed as the next-gen LX looks very similar to the cheaper Mitsubishi Outlander.

New Twin-Turbo Engine Provides More Efficiency

Interestingly, Lexus submitted a trademark filing for the LX 600 nameplate. This clearly suggests either a larger engine than the current 5.7-liter or a smaller turbo variant. Lexus LX currently deploys a 5.7-liter that delivers 383 horsepower. Moreover, this naturally-aspirated V8 provides 402 lb-ft of torque. Lexus likes to name its models after the engines, so LX570 is logically using a 5.7-liter engine.

Okay, what about the LX600 version? New 2021 Lexus LX could get larger powertrain but a smaller twin-turbo V6 is the most likely outcome. This unit is available in the LS sedan and it generates 416 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque. Smaller output and more efficiency will surely put LX SUV back on the track.

Lexus’ Sales Have Stalled

Lexus sales have stalled in the last couple of years. Toyota’s luxury brand lacks new vehicles in the most popular segments. For that reason, new-generation 2021 Lexus LX is the perfect answer. Recently, German competitors such as Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz are ruling the large SUV segment. At this moment, Lexus’ GX and LX SUVs are a bit of a dinosaur.

Both models are using the aging platform and are offering outdated tech-features. Newest data shows Lexus’ market share dropped from 18 percent to 13 percent. The company’s general manager said that we would see significant changes in the near future. Lexus plans to make drastic gains in the market over the next two or three years.

2021 Lexus LX Price and Release Date

One thing is certain, Lexus releases most of its model in September. The upcoming 2021 Lexus LX should be no different. We just hope the release date won’t be pushed back any further.

Moreover, Infiniti QX80 and Land Rover Discovery are almost ready for launch. The price of the current LX starts at $86,500. The new-generation model will bring a lot of refreshments, so the price will be closer to $90,000.
