The forthcoming 2021 Mazda BT-50 is ready for the next chapter. No, we are not talking about the new-generation model, unfortunately. Instead, BT-50 pickup truck could go on sale worldwide, according to the latest reports. This model isn’t as popular as Mazda would like, but BT-50 is a very important model for the Japanese manufacturer. For that reason, we can expect numerous changes in terms of styling, interior, and even the performances.

This mid-size pickup will be very similar to the new Isuzu D-Max. Whatsoever, two models will ride on the same platform as a result of the latest co-operation between Isuzu and Mazda. Previously, the BT-50 model has been based on the Ford Ranger. Now, a new chapter should bring a lot of good things to Mazda and its new model.

2021 BT-50 Exterior Redesign

New 2021 Mazda BT-50 will introduce plenty of exterior changes and upgrades. Some of the changes are pretty radical, and Isuzu will have a great impact on the new truck’s design. For a start, Isuzu and Mazda will deliver an all-new platform. The new architecture will force Mazda to install a new coil-over suspension instead of the currents three-leaf setup.

In terms of styling, BT-50 comes with a new face, and generally, this pickup truck will gain new shape. The front fascia now hosts a redesigned grille and brand-new headlights. Even the rear part is getting numerous changes, including new taillights and more aggressive rear bumper.

Interior Overhaul

Inside the cabin, the next 2021 Mazda BT-50 is also getting numerous changes. Again, most of the cues are borrowed from the D-Max model. That means the BT-50 model will largely depart from the current look that has been based on the Ford Ranger. Let’s be honest. Isuzu isn’t known for making such great interiors. For that reason, Mazda will look to borrow a couple of things from its SUV lineup.

As a result, the cabin will look very modern and premium for the pickup truck segment. No doubt, new BT-50 will easily beat its rivals, such as Ford Ranger or Toyota Hilux. According to the latest reports, Mazda will offer only a double cab configuration, unfortunately.

Engine Rumors

Of course, the most important segment of every pickup truck is its performance. As for the 2021 Mazda BT-50, some things are about to change. Its close resemblance to Isuzu D-Max pickup could result in a new engine. Naturally, BT-50 will debut in Asia and Australia with a 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine. This unit is producing 177 horsepower. However, the very same engine will be re-tuned for the BT-50 model so you can expect more power.

The current model can tow up to 7,700 pounds, and 2021 BT-50 will tow over 8,000 pounds. Another candidate is a 2.5-liter turbodiesel. Isuzu likes to offer this engine in its models that are mainly sold in Europe. Unlike the 3.0-liter, this engine generates 165 horses. The third option will be an all-new powertrain that powers some of the Mazda’s SUVs. Still, this is just a rumor at the moment as we don’t know which engine has been speculated.
