The latest renderings of the upcoming 2022 Mazda RX-7 are looking fantastic. Of course, it is perhaps too early to discuss about the possible design, but these photos are very promising. Besides an impressive look, RX-7 will deploy the new-gen SkyActiv-R, a rotary engine that was introduced in the RX-Vision concept four years ago.
Clearly, the Japanese manufacturer never gives up on a rotary-powered sports car. The idea is here, we’ll see if Mazda will transform it into reality. The fourth-generation RX-7 is almost ready, and we’ll provide you with all of the important information. Of course, Mazda is yet to reveal exact details on its new model.
2022 RX-7 Exterior Redesign
New renderings are looking beautiful. The 2022 Mazda RX-7 is a well-known model, a real sports car with great popularity. Hypothetically, the fourth-gen RX-7 will look very sporty, and it will be based on the RX-Vision concept. For a start, the front end hosts the headlights that are finished in almost-oval shape. Moreover, the same lights are placed lower than on the concept, just like the grille. Mazda’s emblem sits above the grille, a styling cue you can find on older versions of RX-7.
Above the headlights, you can see the eye-socket that mimic a pair of closed pop-up headlamps. This is another cue that was popular during the 80s. On the other hand, many fans are saying that the front fascia looks like a mix of Miata’s and BRZ’s front ends. The side profile looks closer to the profile of the Maserati GranTurismo model.
The RX Vision Concept
As you can see, the 2022 Mazda RX-7 was clearly based on the concept. But this isn’t good enough as most of the vehicle departs from the same concept. The RX Vision looks longer, lower, and sportier. It also offers a much more aggressive front fascia with a prominent grille. A rakish windscreen is another feature we won’t see in the production model. Hood is ventilated, and the wheels are larger as well.
As for the interior, Mazda presented its RX Vision concept with a minimalist design. Leather upholstery is available as standard, just like the three-spoke steering wheel. On top of that, the cabin sports a large amount of carbon fiber trims. Some parts will hit the production, but RX-7 will depart from its concept in so many ways.
New-Gen Rotary Engine
New 2022 Mazda RX-7 will feature the next-gen SkyActiv-R engine. It is a rotary engine that will sit under the long hood of the new RX-7 sports car. The concept also featured the same engine in 2015, and Mazda worked on it for years now. First of all, we are going to see this engine as a range extender inside the MX-30 model. Unfortunately, there is no word on engine specs and transmission. We can’t wait for Mazda to release powertrain details such as power, torque, and its fuel efficiency.
2022 Mazda RX-7 Price and Release Date
The price of the approaching 2022 Mazda RX-7 is another mystery. On the other hand, we can expect this astonishing sports car to go on sale at some point in 2021. The most likely release date is in the last quarter of 2021. Mazda RX-7 will be released as a model for 2022.
