According to the latest reports, a new 2021 Suzuki Jimny is in the works. This adorable model will go on sale at some point in the second half of 2020. After the 2020 Tokyo Auto Salon earlier this year, some things are clearer to everyone. Interestingly, Jimny was presented before the Bronco model. Why do we say that? Thanks to Jimny’s similarities with Bronco, Jimny is now called “Dronco.”

Jimny version will look more traditional than Bronco, and it will gain numerous improvements. However, things aren’t so great for this model. The small SUV emits too much CO2 for the standards in Europe. That means we won’t be seeing the Jimny model in Europe anymore.

2021 Jimny Exterior Facelift

The approaching 2021 Suzuki Jimny will continue with its adorable appearance. However, times have changed, and this SUV won’t look as cute as before. The Japanese manufacturer will try to deliver a more aggressive appearance, especially up front. The new model will continue to ride on its body-on-frame architecture. Furthermore, its practicality won’t change.

However, Jimny will gain a more handsome look thanks to the latest changes. The front part will also host LED headlights and a slightly reshaped grille. The hood will add more horizontal lines and openings. Still, Jimny will weigh around 2,450 pounds once again. Lastly, Suzuki will continue to offer iconic exterior paints such as Granite Gray or Silky Silver Metallic.

Interior Upgrades

As before, new 2021 Suzuki Jimny won’t offer a spacious or luxurious cabin. This model is made to be small, practical, and easy to maneuver with. For that reason, Suzuki will once again provide a very functional interior. Let’s say that Jimny offers a dashboard that is resistant to scratches and stains. However, we will see a new 7-inch display and a new infotainment system.

Cargo room is rated at 13.3 cubic feet, which isn’t such an impressive figure at all. Still, don’t judge Jimny because of its size. This model is continuously improving. There will be room for four passengers, and the legroom will be limited as on the previous versions.

CO2 Regulations Will Make Jimny a Commercial Vehicle

Here’s the bad news. New 2021 Suzuki Jimny won’t be available in Europe anymore. European Union’s 2021 emission regulations are very strict. Jimny is a small model with a small 1.5-liter gasoline engine. Still, its emissions won’t pass the regulations. Moreover, this model is very popular in Europe, which is another problem. As such, Jimny will continue its journey in Europe as a commercial version. What’s the catch, you ask? The regulations are applied to passenger vehicles.

No problem, Suzuki won’t sell Jimny as a passenger variant anymore. Instead, this model will arrive as a commercial version. Such a move is risky, as Jimny will have to cut rear seats and many more details. Moreover, Suzuki won’t just avoid regulations. Future Jimny models will get different engine so the passenger variant will return, most likely in 2022.

2021 Suzuki Jimny Price and Release Date

The price of the all-new 2021 Suzuki Jimny will start at around $15,000. A new version will go on sale in Asia later in 2020. We don’t know when the commercial version will reach Europe. Moreover, Jimny won’t be available in the United States either. That means Suzuki will have zero models in the U.S
