The all-new 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV will go on sale later this year. New spy shots are showing more innovations than the previous ones. Mitsu will also add a larger engine and bigger battery pack in order to improve a vehicle’s performance. This crossover-SUV will reach the Thailand markets in January 2021 and probably U.S. markets before that.
You can expect a small price increase due to the latest changes in this model. According to numerous reports, besides larger output and exterior upgrades, Outlander PHEV will ride on a new platform. Moreover, it should be the same architecture that made a debut in the Engelberg Tourer concept.
2021 Outlander PHEV Spy Shots
New spy shots are available and are showing numerous visual improvements. The 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV comes with refreshed styling, and it will also grow in size. However, don’t expect drastically bigger SUV as these changes are minor.
Exterior features are perfectly hidden under heavy camouflage. On the other hand, Outlander clearly wears something new beneath that camo. According to reliable sources, new Outlander will wear plenty of cues borrowed from the Engelberg Tourer Concept.
Engelberg Tourer Concept
The upcoming 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV will use the same platform as the next Nissan Rogue. Thanks to that, Outlander will grow in size. Moreover, Outlander will compete in the mid-size SUV segment, and it will feature a hybrid powertrain. The whole idea started with the Engelberg Tourer Concept. Thanks to that, this model will wear a lot of concept’s styling cues and features. Interior details are not available at the moment, unfortunately.
However, the exterior will look more modern and more attractive for sure. The front fascia should gain the all-new grille, similar to the grille on the Eclipse Cross model. On top of that, new headlights and daytime running lights will be in the offer. The headlamps will look angular and slightly larger than on the current model.
Outlander PHEV Will Gain Larger Battery Pack
The arriving SUV will use a 2.4-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine. This naturally-aspirated output is producing 126 horsepower. Moreover, this engine will pair with two electric motors/generators. Thanks to that, the new 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV will get an additional 93 hp.
Overall, that makes 219 horses. On top of that, a battery pack grows from 12 to 13.8kilowatt-hour unit. The all-electric driving range will also increase, from 22 miles to 43 miles.
