Electrification of everything that can be electrified. Just like any other established manufacturer, Toyota is also looking in ways to improve its lineup of trucks and SUVs. The 2021 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid is one of the most logical outcomes you could imagine. This mid-size pickup truck is one of the most popular models Toyota has ever produced.
For that reason, hybrid powertrain inside Tacoma comes as no surprise. You can expect various mechanical changes but the exterior will remain. That means there will be no difference between gasoline and hybrid Tacoma. The Japanese automaker will try to deliver astonishing fuel efficiency and numerous improvements in terms of technology.
2021 Tacoma Hybrid Exterior Facelift
For a start, regular Tacoma and the 2021 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid will look the same. That means the hybrid version will get the same updates as its gasoline sibling. The Japanese manufacturer will not deliver a total redesign. Instead, Toyota opted for another mid-cycle refreshment. Thanks to that, all Tacoma’s versions and trim levels will get various cosmetic updates. Its design is cleaner now and the front fascia hosts a new grille.
The headlights have been reshaped, along with the front bumper. The side profile is a carryover and that includes the very same wheels you can see on the current model. In the back, taillights are also reshaped and this mid-size pickup looks bolder than before. Overall, Tacoma looks more attractive than before while its shape and dimensions will largely remain. Lastly, we hope for Tacoma to obtain one or two brand-new exterior paints.
On the inside, a new 2021 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid will also get various updates. However, most of the updates are tech-wise. The mid-size pickup truck will feature the same practical cabin with a simple layout. The interior room is generous and a new version will get more high-quality materials. Moreover, you can expect a longer list of standard amenities. A new 8-inch touchscreen is available and the tachometer has been revised.
The base trim level offers regular staff, including the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Toyota will also update the infotainment system and the new shape of the air vents is visible at first glance. Tacoma Hybrid will arrive with more driver-assistance features than its predecessor. Additionally, new interior color schemes should become available once this model arrives.
Expect More Power and Higher Fuel Efficiency
As you probably know, the regular version continues to use a 3.5-liter V6 as the optional powertrain. A 2.7-liter remains standard engine choice. New 2021 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid will combine the optional engine with three electric motors and the battery pack. This hybrid-gasoline variant will provide a standard AWD system and it will generate 310 horsepower.
Toyota also promised higher torque figures. Moreover, you can expect an increase in terms of fuel efficiency. Whatsoever, Tacoma Hybrid will provide around 35 mpg combined. We still don’t know if the Japanese manufacturer will provide a diesel-hybrid version in the near future.
2021 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid Price and Release Date
The price of the 2021 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid is not available yet. However, we know the base model will cost around $26,000. Thanks to that, a hybrid version of the mid-size pickup truck will start at about $32,000. The Japanese automaker will launch its new model later in 2020, probably in the last quarter of the year.
